A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

No kiddin'. ..I can't bring my dog Jake to school, so unless I can get a pet I'm not gonna be havin' one this year.

[But oh has he tried. He even remembers trying to sneak the bulldog in during his second year. Darn this school being prejudice towards dogs. Why did they just allow cats?]

That's really lame.. You'd think they'd allow a dog! Our school has a giant squid, for Pete's sakes! [He saw it once! There's an upside to the Slytherin common room being under the lake.]

I hope you can find something, at least. I got a rat last year, he's not too bad.

Jake would probably be offended if I came home with a cat outta nowhere.

Rats are super cool! And I think these ones might be magic? Definitely better than cats.

I'd be upset if I was him. I mean, it's not like you're trying to replace him or anything.. but you wouldn't want to hurt his feelings.

I don't think Jake would mind a rat too much, at least. WAY better than a cat.

It's a real pleasure to meet ya, Finn! My name's Dean Venture! I'm in Slytherin house! It's my 6th year.

Slytherin, huh?

[Wow, of course Finn would be the one Gryffindor making friends with all the Slytherin kids.]

I'm in Griffyndor, 3rd year.

Yeah.. A lot of folks say it doesn't really "fit" me. But I didn't get to choose it.

Then there's probably a good chance you'll run into my brother, Hank. We're twins, but he's blonde-haired, blue-eyed.. Kinda loud. You'll know him when you see him!

[Seems like there are two sets of twins at Hogwarts currently, then. The other twins Finn is familiar with are the Tyme brothers, who are in Slytherin as well. Of course....he tried to make friends long ago, but that was virtually impossible to do.]
