It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

[A young man with teal hair and a fedora (although he seems to be wearing normal muggle clothes besides that) is walking by himself through Diagon Alley, not paying too much attention to the other witches and wizards around him. You'll probably see him either A) At Flourish and Blotts looking through his text books, and perhaps other books that strike his eye or B) Gazing with interest at the Broomsticks and other Quidditch items at Quality Quidditch Supplides. Of course chances are he will appear all around Diagon Alley!]

[ Wearing long green robes, Ariel is waiting in line behind a teal-haired boy who seems to be already reading his textbooks. She notices a lot of the same books in his pile as hers and remembers why the fedora's so familiar- he's in her year. Right, the Gryffindor with the cool hair. Kinda quiet. ]

Magical Menagerie

[A glimpse of the pouty bat face was all it took for Mavis to convince her father to let her wander Diagon Alley alone. Dracula had been a bit reluctant to let her go by herself, but relented that she was, in fact, a hundred and sixteen and could very well take care of herself. Besides, she was in her sixth year at Hogwarts now.

First stop on the list after going to her vault at Gringotts that her mother had set up was the Magical Menagerie. Animals didn't usually agree with vampires, some at least. Cats seemed to be weirdly content around them despite popular culture saying otherwise. A pet was something she had wanted for a long time and currently browsing the new kitten litter.]

Oh gosh, they're all so cute. Holy rabies, how do I choose?

[ With a sunny excitement about her as she enjoys her second-to-last trip to Diagon Alley for school supplies, Rapunzel whisks her way down Diagon Alley with list in hand and a pocket full of Galleons in her robes. She first pops into the Menagerie to buy some crickets for Pascal. Had to get a bunch for the first few weeks of school! ]

Easy, Pascal.

[ The little chameleon was "growling" at another lizard in the store but stops promptly at her command. Though she thinks she catches his tongue flick out in distaste at the iguana. She notices a pen of mewing kittens and makes an excited squeal as she beelines toward them. Smiling brightly at the girl who's admiring them as well, she joins in her cooing. ]

Gosh, aren't they! Are you going to get one?

Flourish and Blotts and later Obscurus Books or Quality Quidditch Supplies

[With his dad in town on auror business, Hiccup had taken the opportunity to go shopping in Diagon Alley for his school supplies. Living on a small island like Berk meant having to mail order most things, and even then you really had to come into town for some of the more obscure items. With Toothless riding around in the hood of his muggle jacket like usual, comforting warm breath brushing over his neck, Hiccup pulled out his list.]

Okay, bud, where to first?

[Dean can't help but notice Toothless. He cautiously walks up and tries to catch Hiccup's attention.]

Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour

[Even as far as magical standards went, this was one sight that was just odd. A twelve-year-old kid, without any kind of babysitter, parent, or other adult supervision, wearing a pilot helmet and goggles on his head, carrying basically everything he owned in one bag slung around his shoulder? Yeah. Kind of weird.

Not entirely out of the ordinary if you actually knew Razputin, but... still kind of odd. But hey, he'd basically already bought most of his school supplies now, and since he didn't have many of his personal posessions from home, most of it fit in his bag (sans a few books that he was currently holding in one of his hands.)

What was a twelve-year-old to do when left alone to their own devices in an alleyway full of witchcraft and wizardry in the final days before the school year began?

Go get ice cream. Of course. That was a silly question.

As such, Raz could be found sitting by himeslf outside of Floearn Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlor, happily invested in eating his ice cream cone.

[It's a good thing Raz is pretty easy to spot, too. Even if Norman isn't too aware of Raz's... specific repeat circumstances this year, it's not hard for Norman to tell that--well, Raz isn't here with his parents at all again.

Waving to something behind Raz first, Norman scuffs a shoe against the ground as he waves. He's a little tired from flying over here; after all, muggle parents weren't too keen on magical transportation. This year he'd convinced them he'd be fine getting to Diagon Alley on his own, however, so he's without a sitter as well.

But between himself and his friends, they'd be fine, right?]

Eeylops Owl Emporium

[If anyone is passing by Eeylops Owl Emporium you might see a young boy wearing a white, bearskin hat atop tousled blonde hair staring through the window at the many species' of owls inside for sale. One might be curious as to why he hasn't just gone on inside to look. That's mostly because he doesn't have the money right now to even think about purchasing an owl. Nope, it all has to go to school books and supplies for the year.

Lame. Though that doesn't mean he isn't up for some conversation while he admires the birds.]

Not a bad choice, Finn.

[Marceline speaks up from behind him, twirling her parasol. She likes the kid, she has to admit. He's fun. And owls? They're pretty cool, too.]

Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour

[ Yeah, maybe the place was a magical ice cream parlor but Jason preferred the "muggle" flavors; after all, nothing beat Neapolitan ice cream. After arguing with Bruce, Jason had let the man know where he was going and then promptly stormed off, books in tow. Angrily, he took a bite. Fuck yes, strawberry. For christ's sake, that guy could be such an asshole sometimes-

Whatever. At least he had ice cream. Propped open in front of Jason was a slightly worn issue of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them- he'd been too busy to finish it before, but now (with nothing better to do) he figured this was a good enough time to continue. Ooh, chocolate this time. He couldn't even imagine seeing some of these creatures in real life.

Yum. Vanilla. It would be weird going back to Hogwarts this year. He bitterly wondered if anyone even remembered him. ]

[He wasn't the only one with the great idea of ice cream-- though Raz was perfectly fine with embracing the ridiculous kinds of flavors you only found in the magical world. He had his own ice cream, and it seemed to be some weird combination of chocolate and peach, and possibly mint too?

Still, he was kind of amused watching this older kid being all huffy over his ice cream. But unfortunately, since he was only a second-year this year, he kind of had no idea who this guy was.]

Gambol and Japes

[Guy swore he was never going to get used to most of the things the wizarding world had to offer, and the joke items in Gambol and Japes were no exception. He tucked himself in tight as he weaved through the crowd of young and old students, looking over his shoulder when he felt chubby fingers go to grab the sloth wrapped around his waist. He felt Belt move, shimmying up his back to cling to his shoulder.]

Yeah, I don't think this is our type of shop. How about you, Belt?

[Hank had been perusing the various gags and items through the store, when he spotted Guy. He'd been staring for a good long while, particularly at the little animal dangling on his body]

....Uhm.

[He wanders over, and without any sort of initial greeting, he points at Belt] ..What is that?

Outside Ollivanders Wand Shop

Come along Roger, we have many things still to get! Keep a tight hold of my hand now, and no dawdling!

[There's a woman holding the hand of a frightfully small boy who is practically jogging to keep up with her, pausing every now and then to stare back at a shop they just passed, or at a wizard carrying a cage with an owl inside. The child appears absolutely smitten with all of the sights and sounds, regardless of him barely being able to stop to see any of them.

Before he can get a peek at Quality Quidditch Supplies, the woman ushering him stops short, resulting in him bumping into her leg.]

Careful now. So the next thing we need to get you is a wand. First I need to go to the secondhand robe shop- see if they might have anything cheap and small enough for you to wear. I'll be able to see you from the window so just-

[The woman picks the boy up completely and sets him down on a nearby bench.]

Stay put, ok? I'll be right back.

[And with that she makes her way back through the crowd, leaving the little boy quite stranded on his prison of a bench, unable to go exploring like the other kids..]

[ Another small little boy bustles through the crowd, having gotten away from his parents using a few maneuvers. The problem was that he'd also lost Chip for the moment- But no biggie! He'd find his twin soon enough. ]

Wands! [ Dale grinned gleefully, showing the prominent gap between his front teeth. Nothing in the whole list made him as excited as the thing that would let him do magic- real magic! He pushed his nose against the glass and looked at the shop which was- a lot dustier and boring than he expected. Just a lot of boxes on shelves and an old man. Yawn. ]

Aw, man... Oh! Hey! [ A boy who's his size! He must be a first year too! He skips over to the boy and speaks so fast it's difficult to understand him. ] You going to the magic school too?

Sugarplum's Sweets Shop

[A little girl is standing right outside Sugarplum's Sweets Shop, standing on her tiptoes to be able to look at all of the assorted candies for sale inside. She regards them with a smile, but she seems less than impressed, even though the variety is so vast.

She looks up at a couple standing behind her, who are watching her with gentle smiles.]

Not bad- but they aren't nearly as good as your candy!

[Of course she would think that, since her adoptive parents were the owners of one of the most successful German candy companies in the country. She pauses to listen as they tell her to stay where she is for the moment so they can go purchase her books. With a nod and a chuckle, she turns back to the window.]

Yeah, Mom n' Dad's candies are waaaay better than any'a this stuff...

[ Coming up next to her is another girl, just a little older, wearing a ridiculous sweater (it has light up cats on it) and using it to hold candy like a bag. There's pretty much every kind of candy you can imagine, but when Mabel walks up to her, she grins, all braces. ]

I like your hair! Y'know, you look like a candy expert! What kinda stuff should I be gettin' in on, huh?

Quality Quidditch Supplies

[A young boy has somehow managed to worm his way to the front of a crowd of children with their noses practically pressed to the glass of the front window of Quality Quidditch Supplies, gawking at all of the new models of brooms that have come out this year.

Of course Jamie isn't going to be able to try out for Quidditch himself this year, but he can't help but be fascinated by the brooms all the same. What must it be like, to actually get to participate in a Quidditch tournament? Surrounded by cheering fans.....it had to be something special.

He knew he'd try out for it as soon as he could, but for now he's content with admiring the brooms while his parents help buy the supplies he needs for the year.]

[ Getting your way through crowds of children was harder than it sounded when you don't really have a voice to tell them "move please, thank you, excuse me, sorry about that". Normally it wouldn't be that bad; though he was still short, he still did have a foot on most of these kids. But there were just so many. How does one tackle such a creature?

Sandy sighed, pulled his scarf up, and dove into the fray. He would get into that shop and get that new strategy book if it was the last thing he did! ]

[Zazu is nowhere in particular at the moment. In fact, he's just gotten back from being practically everywhere at once. Making his way through the crowds of children, trying his best to make sure no roughhousing was taking place, or nobody was getting too far from their parents. He followed this routine each and every year, as if it were his job personally to watch over all of the children and make sure they remained safe.

Now he stands out of the way of passerby to have a chance to breathe, regarding everyone with keen, sharp eyes. If one child steps out of line, he'll be able to see it.]

[Timon wasn't particularly with anybody but he wasn't by himself either. He'd lost Pumbaa to the crowd - not his fault the other boy had been distracted by a butterfly, sometimes he swore they weren't the same age. Well he'd probably find him soon enough. Guy could clear out a crowd in a matter of seconds if his bladder wanted it so.

Still, he gave a small cringe when he saw Zazu.]

[Dean is... lost. He didn't mean to be!
Honestly, he looks away for one second, and his dumb brother goes wandering off into the crowd. He glances down at an odd-looking watch around his wrist and lets out an aggravated huff. The two-way communicator is jammed. It usually is when there's too much magic stuff around..

Ok, that's it.]

Hank? Come on, Hank, where are you? HAAANK! This isn't funny!

[This isn't a matter of separation anxiety. Hank had all the money they needed for their school supplies..]

[ Ariel is carrying an armful of new books when she looks over to see someone trying to use some kind of gadget- those things that don't work around magic places. Like a magnet, she trots over to say hello. She's seen this guy around school, being in her house, but that's definitely something she hasn't seen before. ]

Oh wow, what's that?

[ She asks with bright blue eyes wide and curious. Because by "hello," I mean she has to know what it is. It looks like a watch, but he's talking to it? Is it like a "telephone"? ]

Twilfitt and Tatting's / The streets~~

[ It was out of her price range, but Jacklyn couldn't help peeking inside the windows of the high end clothing store, eyeing the various robes hung inside. She was really out looking for new ribbons but wow, do you see those dress robes? Now those are gorgeous.

Wiggling in place, Jacklyn turned around in a huff, pressing her back against the window. No point in looking at what you can't have. Pulling her list out of her bag, Jacklyn eyed it thoughtfully. Where to next-? And where had Jack run off to? ]

[There are some things Eep would never understand. Like fancy clothes. Especially wizarding fancy clothes. Continuing in that vein, Eep didn't understand a fascination with such clothes. This wasn't her first time seeing someone admire them, but still...]

[As if tripping over his own feet wasn't embarrassing on a regular basis, Max had managed to do it not once but twice so far today. With an annoyed sigh, the Hufflepuff ran a hand through his hair, leaning against a wall near Florean Fortescue's. It had taken him forever to get rid of his dad and even now he couldn't escape the embarrassing fact that he was a Goof. Going back to school was going to be a nice break from his father's nagging all summer, even if it was school.]

[Sawyer really isn't the type to go chatting up people. She usually just keeps to her books and business but hey. Max is a fellow Hufflepuff, and younger than her and no matter how ornery she can be at times she has her mothering side buried deep down.]

Magical Menagerie

[Aladdin is looking around the shop, interested but not quite satisfied. In his fifth year, the Slytherin has finally decided he wants a pet, and they've said he can keep it at the orphanage, too, so now he just has to pick what he wants.

None of this seems that exciting.

It's not really supposed to be, dude. [Soos, of course, has been wandering around the streets in his spare time. Seems he's in a conversational mood, and it's lucky that somebody was just talking to themselves! So of course he walks up right next to Aladdin, finishing off some sweet of some sort.]

Pretty sure anything more exciting than a cat is not really fit for living at the dorms.

Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour

[Back-to-school shopping is very exciting, but sometimes you need a break, in this case a break for something sweet. Eep is sitting outside, her ice cream cone already devoured and the remnants all over her face. For the moment, she's just leaning back and enjoying as much sun as she can get.]

[Marceline is armed with a parasol to keep her safe, walking through the streets and just eyeing the shops, for now. Honestly, the girl is more concerned with finding familiar faces right now. Though she sometimes tries to act otherwise, she's a social creature.]

[A seventh year Hufflepuff who thinks he's a Slytherin has just left the junk shop with an armful of broken magical devices... There may even be a broken wand or two in there. Those who know Heinz might know this is probably the start of a bad idea. He's grinning with a scheming look, which only adds to the "bad idea" impression.]

He's ACTUALLY a Slytherin, but doesn't act like it.

[Johan is walking down the street with a flatbed trolley, on top of which rest a small box of cauldron cakes and a large bag of assorted candies, recently aquired. He's got a charm on it so it'll follow him--but of course, it's not as good at avoiding people as he is, and so it very nearly keeps going into the fellow seventh year before Johan stops it.]

Diagon Alley Streets / Florian Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour

[An oversized Ravenclaw is touring the streets of Diagon Alley this year around, not really looking for anything in particular. Sure, he has a giant bag marked "GAMBOL AND JAPES!" hanging from his hand, but that could mean anything, right?

Though maybe he might stop by Fortescue's later for a quick sundae. Or two. He hadn't really had breakfast this morning.]

[ Someone is staring at the window to the Owl Emporium with what basically amount to starry eyes. She's been dying for a pet, and if she can't have a pig (and oh, god, did she try for a pig), then an owl is totally the next best thing! Plus, Dipper said he wanted to see them up close, and Mabel is totally willing to be the best one-minute-older sister the world can offer and help brother.

That and they're pretty.]

[ You will find Charlotte la Bouff in one of two places during her stay at Diagon Alley. She should probably be shopping for books, but at the moment, she's eagerly perusing her way through the shelves at Twilfitt and Tattings, getting fitted for new robes. It's a tradition, to get new ones every year--besides, the old ones go out of style every couple of months, anyway.

Otherwise, she's flitting around the alley, stopping to talk to people as often as possible, or ducking in and out of street vendors, coming up with a pumpkin pasty at some point and popping it into her mouth. One American social butterfly, coming up. ]

[ Rapunzel opens the door to Twilfitt and Tattings, deciding this was the year to look into a nicer set of robes. The purple robe she was in now were shabby after just last year and dress robes were definitely in order! ]

Charlotte? Hey! Lottie!

[ She squeals and walks over to the younger Hufflepuff as the other girl's getting fitted. All smiles as she goes to a comfortable distance for conversation. ]

Flourish and Blotts

[Mabel is probably getting her books leaving Dipper to his own devices. He's looking through all sorts of books and writing titles down in a notebook.]

[This coming school year will be the first year he starts sneaking into the castle, so he's likely not that recognizable unless maybe Mabel has introduced him or if you're familiar with the Mystery Shack in Hogsmeade.]

[Though Finn isn't much for books himself, he did want to find something on mythical creatures this year. So he's walking slowly through the shop while scanning the titles when he spots Dipper. He looks over his shoulder at the notebook with a smile before asking.]

Quality Quidditch Supplies

[Where else would Rai be? He was going to be captain this year, so it was time to step up the Gryffindor's game. He was looking at brooms and other equipment. Anything that might help his team out.]

[Otherwise he's probably hanging around the Leaky Cauldron, or the Sweet Shop. He'll do the other shopping for school later.]

[Marceline catches Raimundo at the Sweet Shop. Since he's two years younger than her, and in a different house, she doesn't really know him, but she's in the mood for a chat.]

The cockroach clusters are great.

[Well, it was his second year at hogwarts. His sixth year of school altogether, and he wasn't really that much closer to completing his list. Oh well, that just meant he needed to work ten times harder this year. He was going to put himself out there whether they wanted him to or not.

He needed to start with making a drama club at school. Okay, awesome. There's a good start- he'll revise the list later.]

[For now Danny was wandering around Madam Malkins looking at robes.]

[Guess who else was in there, Danny? Yup, it's Sawyer getting her measurements done. It has been a while since she has needed to get new robes, but her old ones are getting pretty frayed at this point, despite how well she cared for them. She's speaking with Madam Malkin's herself, not having yet noticed the other student in the room.]

It is hard to believe. I think I'll miss this place once I graduate. It holds a lot of wonderful memories. Some not so wonderful but. Well that's life.

2nd Hand Brooms (Turbo, Candy and The Twins)

[The Tyme family can currently be found in the used broomstick shop, with Candevolus curiously surveying the wares, his sons "Turbo", Eddy and Teddy following close behind him. As a collector of broomsticks, Candy made himself a frequent visitor to second hand shops, as they would often get rare or antique brooms in stock.
With a peppermint stick in his mouth and holding a bag from the sweets shop they visited earlier, Turbo considers wandering off, somewhat bored. He doesn't particularly understand his father's hobby of collecting old brooms mostly just to look at. If you don't ride them, and they're not very fast, then what's the point?]

[Even though her parents already bought her a broom, Vanellope can't help but visit all of the broom shops in Diagon Alley anyway. In fact, the second hand brooms are more interesting to her than the brand new ones. Anything broken, worn, or a bit dusty is just fine. In her eyes, it gives them all character- character that a brand new broom fresh from the shelves would never have.

And it's not always the broom that wins the race either. Half of it is the person riding it.

So if Turbo looks he might see the little first year standing on her tiptoes next to the window, trying her best to look in at the antique brooms on display.]
