A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.
If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!
( Kicking things off with a quick and easy log! Threads may take place anywhere in Diagon Alley, with any characters that will be heading to Hogwarts. Feel free to threadjack, threadhop, or create multiple threads depending on if you want others to hop in when you change locations! Most importantly, have fun! )

Magical Menagerie
First stop on the list after going to her vault at Gringotts that her mother had set up was the Magical Menagerie. Animals didn't usually agree with vampires, some at least. Cats seemed to be weirdly content around them despite popular culture saying otherwise. A pet was something she had wanted for a long time and currently browsing the new kitten litter.]
Oh gosh, they're all so cute. Holy rabies, how do I choose?
no subject
Easy, Pascal.
[ The little chameleon was "growling" at another lizard in the store but stops promptly at her command. Though she thinks she catches his tongue flick out in distaste at the iguana. She notices a pen of mewing kittens and makes an excited squeal as she beelines toward them. Smiling brightly at the girl who's admiring them as well, she joins in her cooing. ]
Gosh, aren't they! Are you going to get one?
no subject
I think so! Dad finally agreed to let me own my own pet. We're not really allowed to have any at the hotel but I promised to keep it in my room outside of school.

[ She reaches a hand down to pet a fluffy black one, who starts to playfully bat at it. ]
I don't know how you can pick just one! Are you leaning towards a color or anything?
no subject
[Not that that would stop the werewolf litter. Mavis rests her chin on a hand, placing her other under its elbow. She hadn't really thought about a colour, just that she wanted a pet.]
Hmm...I'm not really sure. I'm fond of black but the ginger one is particularly cute.
no subject
[ Pascal certainly doesn't appreciate that. He makes a very irritated face. ]
This black one here has such pretty green eyes! But also depends a lot on the kitten. Some of these look like real troublemakers, which might cause trouble in a dorm room! [ She watches the black one tumble around and pounce on his/her siblings and laughs at it. ]

[She gave the chameleon a smile before she turned her attention back to the kittens, tapping a finger to her chin.]
You've got a point. I don't think dad would appreciate it if he managed to get out into the hotel.
no subject
Well, good luck with your decision, Mavis! I'll have to come see your friend later!
I'm so sorry to run, just got a lot to buy! I swear, I ran out of like, everything last year. Practicing for the OWL exams killed my potion supplies.

Oh, no problem, Rapunzel. I'll see you when school starts, maybe?

Glancing into a box full of kittens (cute little fuckers, weren't they?) Jason idly scratched behind the ear of a spotty little calico who was more interested in biting Jason's finger then letting it do him a service. He grinned a little. It was pretty fucking precious. When he heard the voice next to him (where in the world did this chick come from-), Jason glanced up. Wow. She was really cute. ]
'Holy rabies'. That's a new one.
no subject
Depends on who you ask. I've been using it for...well, a while.
no subject
Pretty popular terminology where you come from?
[ The little calico was wrestling his wrist into submission, his tiny furry arms wrapped around Jason's limb with his teeth going to work on his fingers. Jason wiggled his fingers, making it double hard for the kitten. Cute little asshole. ]

[She really didn't know why that was the way it was, but it had been happening ever since she coined the catch phrase about a hundred years ago or so. She giggled at the kitten attempting to wrestle his wrist, leaning over the enclosure to look curiously. In fact, she was leaning over so much that she upturned in the air.]
Do they like that?
no subject
This guy does.
[ The grin had yet to leave Jason's face and his eyes flickered up to look at Mavis. ]
I'm no expert, but I think it's pretty obvious this guy is a fighter. Now that one, over there- [ He pointed over to a another cat, grooming itself in a prim fashion. ] -that one is a diva. And that one, over on that end- [ The kitten was curled up in a ball, soft kitteny snores emitting out of it's tiny body. ] -that is a lap cat.
no subject
Wow, you know a lot about cats. We're not allowed pets at the hotel my dad runs but he's said I can get one as long as it stays in my room.
no subject
[ Delicately, Jason retracted his arm from the kitten's tiny grip, the small feline giving him a pouty glare as his arm departed. Jason looked over at Mavis and raised an eyebrow. ]
Your family runs a hotel, huh? Must meet lots of people.

[She reached into the enclosure to pick up the ginger one, watching the way it curled around her hand as a purr started up.]

Looking for a pet, princess?
no subject
Hey, Marcie. Yeah, dad finally relented on letting me get one.
no subject
Good for you. Hey, that little guy looks pretty neat.

[The black kitten eyes Marceline with curiosity, a purr thrumming in its throat from the attention it was getting as Mavis rubbed under its chin.]
It was a toss up between him and the ginger but he's kind of winning me over.

[Finn suddenly appears at Mavis's side after weaving his way through the shop, eyeing the kittens with a half smile.]
Y'just gotta introduce yourself to all of 'em, an' see which one likes you the best.
[As if to demonstrate, he reaches down and gently picks up a white kitten and strokes its back, giggling when she arches her back and rubs against the side of his face.]
Haha, see?
no subject
Really? It's that easy?
no subject
[He holds out the little kitten to her, which gives a soft mew before looking up at her curiously.]
