A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

[A young man with teal hair and a fedora (although he seems to be wearing normal muggle clothes besides that) is walking by himself through Diagon Alley, not paying too much attention to the other witches and wizards around him. You'll probably see him either A) At Flourish and Blotts looking through his text books, and perhaps other books that strike his eye or B) Gazing with interest at the Broomsticks and other Quidditch items at Quality Quidditch Supplides. Of course chances are he will appear all around Diagon Alley!]

[ Wearing long green robes, Ariel is waiting in line behind a teal-haired boy who seems to be already reading his textbooks. She notices a lot of the same books in his pile as hers and remembers why the fedora's so familiar- he's in her year. Right, the Gryffindor with the cool hair. Kinda quiet. ]

OWL year for you, too?

[Perry looked up from copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to see who was talking to him. He gave a polite smile when he recognized who it was and closed his book.]

Yes, I figured I might see what we're in for.

So much work, I don't know how I'll keep up. Not to mention the exams... and I thought last year sucked.

[ With a sigh, she flips her hair back out of her face and moves up in line. ]

Hey, aren't you that Chaser who scored the winning goal for the Quidditch Cup last year? [ She raises an eyebrow. That was a good game; for them, not for Slytherin. ]

[His smile broadens a tiny bit as he nods. He felt a little awkward, as he recognizes Ariel as a member of the opposing team that night, but she never struck him as a violent type, even on the field.]

[ Ariel looks worried when she realizes he's scared she'd be upset. She quickly tried to fix it. ]

No, no! I mean, it's fine! It was a hard game to lose. Turbo was furious. [ She frowns a bit at the memory, but shrugs it off. ]

I was just trying to remember where I'd seen you before. Where did you get hair like that anyway? Metamorphagus?

[Shakes his head at that last comment.]

Charms accident. I don't really remember it.

[Books aren't exactly Eeps favorite, but friendly folks are. Perry may not be the most chatty guy around, but it's cool. It gives her plenty of time to talk.]

[He's perfectly fine with being around someone who's a lot more chatty than he is. And hey! He remembers you!]

They sure have a lot of books here, huh? I've never seen so many anywhere else.

[When the Croods did go out, bookstores weren't high on their list of places to go. Just the necessities for them, and new information was not a necessity.]

[Perry looked mildly surprised at that.]

I've seen some muggle book shops that have this many books.

[Or heck even libraries!]

My family doesn't really go to book shops. [Eep scratched beneath her chin, thoughtfully.] I don't think ever.

[He seemed mildly shocked at that.]

I'm sorry to ask, but what does your family do?

[Vanellope spots Perry from afar, and since her parents are busy buying books for her, she seperates from them for a moment to approach him. He's not that far away anyway, so it won't be a problem she's sure.

It's not the muggle clothing that's caught her eye, since she's in muggle clothing herself- no, it's something much different.

She stops just by his hip and tugs on the edge of his jacket a bit before folding her arms behind her back, leaning back on her heels with a grin.]

Nice hair, Mister.

[Perry looked down at Vanellope. He doesn't recognize her, but assumes that she's probably a first year student.]

[Talkative, isn't he?]

[His assumption is absolutely correct, but if he thought that short answer was going to get rid of her, he has another thing coming.]

Did'ja color it that way yourself?

No. Charms accident.

[There's the tiny twinge of annoyance at that, but it's hard to tell if he was annoyed at the question or just that his hair is teal.]

Woah, really?

[She stands on her tiptoes in an attempt to get a better look, since he's still wearing his fedora.]

I think it looks awesome!

[And that actually earned him a smile. In fact he even kneels down a bit and takes off his fedora. Of course he's pretty short in the first place so he doesn't have to kneel too much.]

Quality Quidditch Supplies

[ He's been eyeing keeper helmets for a good long while, batting at Bruce Wayne's beak whenever the dumb owl starts nipping at his hair, when he spots Perry not too far away. He knows the kid's a decent chaser, and is a mighty fine beater when need be, so maybe Perry has a better idea as to what's worth buying around here. He wanders over to him, plucking the fedora right off Perry's head and placing it on his own. ]

Hey there, old boy. Seeing anything good?

[Perry looked visibly annoyed at Hank swipping his hat and calling him "old" but shrugs it off, in the very least it doesn't look like he's teasing him, so he'll let it slide for now.]

Of course, but I'm just browsing now.

Huh.

[ Bruce nips at the hat lightly, and Hank shrugs his shoulders to try to get the bird to stop. It squawks and flaps its wings, knocking the hat of Hank's head. He sighs, and hands it back to Perry. ]

Here, you should take this back. Ol' Batman here is all sorts of on edge. Shopping for school irritates him. Speaking of, what do you think of this thing? Have one of 'em?

[ He pulls out a broom compass, holding it up for Perry to see. ]

[He takes his fedora back and, after flicking some dust off of it, puts it back on his head. When Hank shows him the compass, Perry looks at it for a bit, then shrugs.]

I think it's just for travel. I've never used one.

Oh, bungalows! Really? [sighs] Man, I thought it'd have a more practical purpose than travel. I wanted something that'd set me out from the rest of the team... I thought a cool compass on my broom would do the trick.

[He hopes not. What kind of person buys something before they know what it's used for?]
