A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

( Kicking things off with a quick and easy log! Threads may take place anywhere in Diagon Alley, with any characters that will be heading to Hogwarts. Feel free to threadjack, threadhop, or create multiple threads depending on if you want others to hop in when you change locations! Most importantly, have fun! )

[Rules are there for a reason, and Zazu thinks you would be wise to always follow them.]

In some ways you are right. But there is a reason under-aged magic carries such severe consequences. The risk of being observed by muggles is too great, for one. They're becoming more and more perceptive to the wizarding world with each passing generation.

If them finding out is such a big deal, why don't we just tell people we exist?

[Seemed logical to him!]

I mean, what's the worst that could happen?

The worst? Oh my dear boy, you don't understand-

[Zazu folds his arms a bit tighter, in a motion that's almost akin to a bird ruffling its feathers.]

Magic and muggles simply do not mix. That's a fact. Of course there are magical beings born with muggle parents, but that being said, we wizards and witches are few. The dangers of the wizarding world are too great, and non-magical folk would be in serious trouble if they knew we existed.

Can you imagine what would happen if a muggle, unable to perform the simplest charm, were faced with a dangerous magical creature or rogue wizard?

It's not something worth risking I'm afraid.

[He crossed his arms and thought it over. Damn, he did kind of have a point...]

I guess so... But isn't it kinda dangerous with all this magical powerful stuff running around and them having no idea either?
morningreport: (I'm not sure sire)

...That is true. But them knowing would probably be more of a risk than them not knowing, in the end. Things have worked out...relatively well thus far with most Muggles being in the dark, haven't they?

I guess... [Though with how grumbly he was looking and sounding, he probably didn't really believe it entirely.]

It's still pretty lame.
