A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

( Kicking things off with a quick and easy log! Threads may take place anywhere in Diagon Alley, with any characters that will be heading to Hogwarts. Feel free to threadjack, threadhop, or create multiple threads depending on if you want others to hop in when you change locations! Most importantly, have fun! )

I dunno... it's kinda a bad time to try and keep secrets, considering all the people here. Not a whole lot of empty shops, either...

Can you just, like, write it or sketch it down and I'll take a look at it while I'm walking around? Then we could meet at... Fortescue's, I could use a sundae, and I'll hand you back a reply. Sound good?

[And he will take out his notebook and pen and start writing as they walk. The good news is that he has a majority of it already written down from before, so all he has to do is add in a quick note or two before he hands it over.

The gist of it reads:

-Gain access into Hogwarts
-Attain incognito status with borrowed robes and walk amongst student body undetected
-Utilize library during school hours
-Research potions, charms, curses, everything!
-Find way to unlock magic
-Become a wizard!

(Write down hours of Honeydukes as to not get stuck in the tunnel after the shop has closed. Aprox distance between Hogwarts/Honeydukes = 1 hr.

1 hr there + 1 hr back = 2 - 10 hrs (shop hours) = 8 hrs research time. (be inconsistent as to not arouse suspicion.)

There's a number of other notes, but this is the important stuff.]

-Become a wizard! this is also a thing? good luck. It has to be possible. Even as far as genetics go, you can have dominant and recessive traits. That doesn't mean the genetics go away, they're just recessive. The potential is still there, I just have to find a way to get it out.

Alright, a few points. One, yes, you are totally that obvious. You're the worst at incognito, like, ever.

Two, unless there's some trinket, you're gonna need to know magic to detect magic. Sorry for the Catch-22 there.

Three, dude? The genetics thing makes sense from, like, a scientific standpoint? But magic and science kinda don't play well together, so just... I don't know, take everything with some salt.

If I'm just taking notes, then there shouldn't be a reason for the book to jinx me, right? I mean, that's kind of the reason libraries exist- it's for school work.

And magic or not- it has to follow some kind of rule. There are limits to what magic can and can't do so it has to be applicable to some science somehow. [He refuses to believe that it can't.]

I will, I will, don't worry. I'm going to try and work on a map of the school so it'll be less likely that I get lost. I know the place is a maze.

Well, yeah. You can never plan for every possibility, right? So, like, what if you get busted while reading and need to book it? Or Stan gets wise to your scheme?

Oh, yeah, don't worry. I mean- I have to scope the place out a little first. I literally just found this secret passage last week. If I'm able to come up with the map, then I can draw out possible escape routes.

For now, I'm going to borrow Mabel's old school robes so I at least look like I should be there.
