A New School Year [OPEN LOG]

It's almost time for school! Time for the yearly trip back to Diagon Alley. New books, potion ingredients, and robe fittings? Absolutely. First years? Go get your wands. More importantly, now's the time to catch up with old friends and see how they've been over the summer.

If it's your first time to Diagon Alley, maybe you can catch someone heading in to show you the way? Don't worry, there's always a helpful witch or wizard about to guide the Muggleborns to the right location if they get a little lost!

( Kicking things off with a quick and easy log! Threads may take place anywhere in Diagon Alley, with any characters that will be heading to Hogwarts. Feel free to threadjack, threadhop, or create multiple threads depending on if you want others to hop in when you change locations! Most importantly, have fun! )

[Parents? Psh, Razputin Aquato certainly didn't need any parents! And his certainly weren't here either.

And well, seeing as this was Raz and all, completely unsupervised and overly excited, you can bet he was running around like the excitable child he was. Thankfully he had the foresight or the reflexes to slide to a stop when he almost ran into Zazu.]

Whoah-- uh, hey Mr. Akua!

[Zazu looks up just in time to see Raz skid to a stop just inches shy of plowing right into him. He raises an eyebrow at the boy, gazing down at him.]

...Mr. Aquato. Heading somewhere in quite the hurry I see.

[That's more of a statement than a question, and it's hard to tell if it's scolding or not.]

Yep! IIII was just on my way to Flourish and Blotts, to peruse their vast new collection of reading material.

[He stands up straight now with one hand behind his back, one hand held up with his palm out as if it were a fancy gesture, and speaking ~oh-so-properly~!] You know, just doing my best in taking an interest in furthering my education. The usual stuff.
morningreport: (Guurl you did not just say that)

[personal profile] morningreport 2013-04-22 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...

[Zazu will admit, that's not something you hear from your average everyday student. Though he's not sure if Raz is being sincere, or is just trying to play his words up to impress him. Either way, the teacher seems rather indifferent.]

Mmyes well, I'm glad someone is interested in furthering their education, unlike half of the hooligans that pass through Hogwart's halls each semester.

[Yep. Totally nailed it. And no one was ever the wiser. ]

Of course! Who wouldn't want to?! Getting to learn to make stuff float in the air, set stuff on fire, turning animals into stuff-- it's like the best thing in the world!

....Perhaps. But magic is only best used under strict supervision until one is an experienced witch or wizard.

[Basically don't do the things until after you graduate, Raz.]

[Aw man. He hated that stupid rule.]

But isn't that just the sort of thing that makes our education even more difficult if we can only do it with supervision? Some people like to study alone, you know.
morningreport: (Bird's eye view)

[personal profile] morningreport 2013-04-22 06:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rules are there for a reason, and Zazu thinks you would be wise to always follow them.]

In some ways you are right. But there is a reason under-aged magic carries such severe consequences. The risk of being observed by muggles is too great, for one. They're becoming more and more perceptive to the wizarding world with each passing generation.

If them finding out is such a big deal, why don't we just tell people we exist?

[Seemed logical to him!]

I mean, what's the worst that could happen?
morningreport: (Ah-heh)

[personal profile] morningreport 2013-04-28 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
The worst? Oh my dear boy, you don't understand-

[Zazu folds his arms a bit tighter, in a motion that's almost akin to a bird ruffling its feathers.]

Magic and muggles simply do not mix. That's a fact. Of course there are magical beings born with muggle parents, but that being said, we wizards and witches are few. The dangers of the wizarding world are too great, and non-magical folk would be in serious trouble if they knew we existed.

Can you imagine what would happen if a muggle, unable to perform the simplest charm, were faced with a dangerous magical creature or rogue wizard?

It's not something worth risking I'm afraid.

[He crossed his arms and thought it over. Damn, he did kind of have a point...]

I guess so... But isn't it kinda dangerous with all this magical powerful stuff running around and them having no idea either?
morningreport: (I'm not sure sire)

[personal profile] morningreport 2013-05-06 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
...That is true. But them knowing would probably be more of a risk than them not knowing, in the end. Things have worked out...relatively well thus far with most Muggles being in the dark, haven't they?

I guess... [Though with how grumbly he was looking and sounding, he probably didn't really believe it entirely.]

It's still pretty lame.
